 Alarm & Security Services is a long established family run business which specialises in home security within the Greater Manchester Area.

Over the past 26 years, we have installed thousands of house alarm systems, and are very proud of the fact that some of our original customers still use our services today, and that many of our original customers' children, and more recently grandchildren, have chosen to use our services to protect their homes.

Some years ago, we were the main security contractors when Bellway Homes built new homes as part of the urban redevopement in Hulme and at various other sites in the Greater Manchester area.  For many years we also provided electronic and physical security measures at various properties operated by the Anchor Trust in the Greater Manchester area.

More recently, we have just completed 12 years, where we worked in conjunction with Salford Council's Burglar Reduction Initiative providing burglar alarm systems, access control, CCTV, target hardening equipment, and security gates and grilles, to vulnerable homes in the Salford area.

Earlier this year, we decided not to tender for the next "council" contract.   Although it has been a privilige to work with the Burglary Reduction Initiative, all good things come to an end, and with government "cuts" continously erroding the money available for this type of work, we decided we should in future concentrate on improving our service to our very large existing customer base and to actively look for our own work once again.

Many of our older customers now have alarm systems which by modern standards are out of date.   Many, rather than moving house, are upgrading their existing homes by building extensions or simply altering the internal layout.  Others now use their homes in a different way to how they did when we originally installed their alarms.   Some now have pets, some have more or less children at home, and some may even have decided that as they get older, they would now like to sleep downstairs.

When people alter their homes or how they live, they usually need to also alter their home security.   We are experts in this type of work, and now we have the time available to provide this service. 

Obviously like all businesses, we are still need to targeting new customers, and believe that we are now in a position to compete favourably with any of our competitors in the Greater Manchester area.   We will never sell the cheapest security systems/equipment simply because we know you cannot get good reliable security unless you pay a reasonable price for it.  Nor will we every be the most expensive.  Our pricing criteria is to provide real security at a fair price.

PRODUCT RANGE.

BURGLAR ALARM SYSTEMS - New Systems - System Upgrades - Repairs - Maintenance.

We install to the relevant requirements of EN50131-1 or to the relevant standards if fitting a wireless system. 

We are deliberately not members of any of the trade inspectorates.  As home alarm installers there is no advantage to us, or the housholder for us to incur the additional costs involved in being a member of a trade inspectorate, as these extra costs would clearly have to be passed on to the customer.

We have the necessary experience and expertise to install, repair, and maintain, virtually any type of home alarm system, and to carry out small or large system upgrades to systems we have installed, or those installed by others.

We do not sell "kits".   We design and install an alarm system to suit the house and the householders.

ACCESS CONTROL EQUIPMENT - Audio & Video Door Entry & Communication Systems.

The electronic way to the maintain security of an entrance door.  Audio systems allow the householder to "talk" to someone outside without opening the door or possibly without even leaving their chair.  Video systems allow the householder to "talk to & see" someone outside without opening the door.  Either type of system can be made to electronically release the door's lock once the visitor has been cleared for access.  Video systems are now available in both black & white and in colour.

CCTV - Watch & Record what happens in your garden and drive, or keep a check on your parked car.

Systems are now available which produce good images in virtually all light conditions form sunlight to near total darkness.  Domestic quality systems are available which can be viewed on a standard TV set and used in conjunction with a suitable recording device or a computer.  Cameras which are activated by movement can enable long periods of inactivity not to be recorded, whilst any period where movement is detected is recorded automatically, thus reducing playback time to a minimum.

Simple reasonably inexpensive devices which when fitted to vulnerable doors and windows greatly reduce the risk of forced entry and provide peace of mind and generally improve home security.  Our engineers not only know how and where to fit, but also which will do the best job.

 SECURITY GATES - GRILLES - SHUTTERS - WINDOW BARS.

 Where a property is really vulnerable it is some times necessary to protect windows and doors by fitting physical deterrents which will seriously increase the time it will take to force an entry into the property.  We use a wide range of these products, all of which whilst not ideal in the home, do certainly provide what is probably the best form of home security possible.

Well-made fold-away security gates and grilles fitted to the inside of the windows can become an asset and a selling point in more prestigeous homes.  They are clearly visible when travelling to the more affluent parts of the World and can often be seen in the very exclusive villas in places like Cannes, Monte Carlo, Geneva, Rome, and Venice.  

Domestic quality shutters - not to be mistaken for the "Beirut" type steel shutters fitted to shop windows in rundown towns and cities throughout the UK - also have their place.  Beautifully made and finished in a wide range of colours, they can enhance a property, whilst protecting against breaking and entering, vandalism, small explosions, solar heat gain, and UV damage to furniture and carpets.  Domestic shutters can be fitted on the inside or outside of windows, and can be manually or electonically operated.  Domestic shutters can be made so that those inside the property can see out without their presence being compromised.

Domestic quality window bars are again beautifully made and finished.  They can be fitted inside a window (or windows) where security is required virtually around the clock, but where loss of daylight would be an unacceptable compromise.     

All in all, we believe that we offer everything you need to protect you home, except a double barrelled shotgun.
